Program Overview
Our mission: To ensure a data and information legacy that promotes continual scientific discovery and public awareness of the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem.
GRIIDC is a multidisciplinary data repository based out of the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. The staff include a director, program manager, software engineers, and subject matter experts. GRIIDC stores data from diverse fields of study including biology, chemistry, physical oceanography, sociology, political science, and public health. Data are primarily collected or generated from the Gulf of Mexico region.
GRIIDC addresses the entire data management lifecycle. Training is provided to researchers via workshops, webinars, and one-on-one meetings. A dataset information form is required before data are submitted to help researchers plan for their data submission. After submission, datasets are reviewed by subject matter experts to ensure data are well-described and complete. Data are issued a digital object identifier to enhance findability and provide credit to the researcher. Data can be found via the GRIIDC search page and Google dataset search.
